Welcome to the Coach Corner

This page is to assist new coaches learn more about supporting a new team and guiding them to the various resources available on the web for free. The EV3 robotic community is a large and generous community that share information across the globe to assist newbies with learning more about robotics. Each new coach has a different background and may not have any experience with robotics or programing or engineering and that’s OKAY.

The WRO promotes a “Let’s learn together” approach and it’s a coach’s job to guide the participants into the right direction and not to just give them the answer. Below are a few helpful resources to guide you through your first season with the WRO. Remember, its about the fun, the team work and the friendships.

  1. What’s in the Box?

  2. For new EV3 kits. First thing you will want to do is sort all the pieces in the kit. This will make it easier to find the pieces needed to build the EV3 Robot.

  4. Choose the Platform/Device needed and then choose the language.

    • After downloading the software go to the Getting Started with LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 page. There are 3 short videos that take you through the Set-up of a new EV3 Kit, Learning the basics for programming the EV3 Brick and Creating & Controlling Your Robot.

  1. Brick Basics: A user guide to all the bricks that are built-in on the EV3 Brick.
  2. Intro to On-Brick Programming: An introduction on how to program directly on the Brick.
